Nick Kyrgios is the man of the moment in the Australian tennis world.
Probably the teenager has been a bit overrated after few (great) successes he had in 2014 when he won 3 challengers and he reached the quarters in Wimbledon after defeating Gasquet and Nadal.
Nothing wrong with that, we like Nick, we are just a bit concerned it will turn in conceit. In fact, soon after winning the Newcombe medal, the highest award you can get in Australian tennis, Nick came out saying “I think a title awaits me. I’m just going to train hard, do everything I can every day and hopefully that title comes. Who knows? Maybe Sydney, maybe Aussie Open, I don’t know.”
Then when asked if he can be considered a contender for the Australian Open he replied “Definitely. Definitely. If I do all the right things I definitely believe I’ve got the game to make an impact in the tournament.”
Interesting… we just hope we will not end up like Tomic…
