CONFIRMED. Novak Djokovic out of Miami with Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas being the top seeds

Djokovic won Miami five times, but hasn't made it past the fourth round since 2016.

Novak Djokovic

James Blake, the director of the Miami Open, said Friday that Novak Djokovic would not be taking part in this year’s competition and therefore Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas will be the top 2 seeds. Between 2011 and 2016, Djokovic won Miami five times, but since then, he hasn’t made it past the fourth round of the Masters.

“Obviously, we’re one of the premier tournaments in the world. We’d like to have the best players that can play,” said James. “We did all that we could. We tried to talk to the government, but that’s out of our hands.

Same result that he had in Indian Wells, where I know Tommy Haas did as much as he could. We tried to get Novak Djokovic to be allowed to get an exemption, but that wasn’t able to happen.”
