The Credit One Charleston Open will mark Elina Svitolina’s comeback to the Hologic WTA Tour in the coming month. The former World No. 3 took a main-draw wildcard and will compete in the renowned WTA 500 event alongside five other current Top 10 athletes. Before taking a break and welcoming her first child, daughter Ska, with her husband and fellow tennis professional Gael Monfils, Svitolina last competed a year ago in Miami.
Svitolina started documenting her return to training on social media after Ska was born in October. Raemon Sluiter, best known for guiding now-retired Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens to the Top 10, will coach Svitolina in her comeback, according to a report from the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. Raemon Sluiter will also be the Ukrainian’s new coach for her comeback.
