Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have been huge rivals for most of their career, but now this special rivalry is becoming a sheer “bromance” that was cemented during the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague (2017) and it will be “renewed” next September in Geneva in the same competition.

A couple of years ago, the Swiss was elated for appearing to the inauguration of the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca when both players were out for injuries. Later on, both tennis legends enjoyed a fantastic 2017 that started in the best possible way with Federer and Nadal battling in one of the most beautiful slam finals in modern history at the Australian Open. later on, Rafa and Roger teamed-up in Prague on occasion of the first Laver Cup to win a historic double together against Jack Sock and Sam Querrey.

Why Federer is so excited about playing the Laver Cup with Nadal

Roger Federer is elated with playing again with Rafa to comment

“We’ve all been blown away by the success of the Laver Cup, which in just two years has become so special to all the players who’ve been involved from both teams.

I’m excited captain Bjorn has named both me and Rafa for Team Europe. We had a blast in Prague and it will be very special for me to team up with him again in Switzerland to try and defend our title.

John McEnroe has made it very clear how motivated Team World is to win and we’ll need to compete hard to stay undefeated. I know from lots of first-hand experience how tough it is to compete against Rafa and it’s a huge boost to our team to have him on Team Europe.”
