Kyrgios wins the Newcombe Medal

What a great year for Nick Kyrgios!

The 19-year-old wins the Newcombe Medal for the most outstanding player in 2014.

Nick is the youngest medalist and he was joined by Sam Stosur and Lleyton Hewitt on the stage.

Newcombe: He had a fantastic year

It was the tennis legend to give the award “Nick Kyrgios just had a fantastic year. Nobody could have expected him to have as good a year as he had.

We were all excited when he won a couple of Challenger events earlier in the year, then all of a sudden, boom, he jumped on to the world stage at Wimbledon, saving match points against Richard Gasquet and taking out Nadal in a brilliant fashion and getting through to the quarter-finals.”
