Venus Williams was in India playing for the Bangalore Raptors team (Champions Tennis League) and of course she was meant to go to this or that event. So what’s better than a fashion show?
Venus went on the catwalk dressed in local dresses doing… well some “moves”. Apparently she enjoyed that.
Venus: I want to learn Indian dance
The former world no.1 commented “I want to learn Indian dance. I’ve seen some interesting moves in the movies.
I don’t know the names of the movies, but I enjoyed the steps. It would be great to get the help of an instructor. It’ll be a fun activity, and I’m looking forward to it. Who knows where that might take me.”
The choreographer of the show Prasad Bidapa commented “We really wanted her to take part and Venus insisted on walking the ramp to a Bollywood number. We chose the track Lovely, originally performed by actress Deepika Padukone. She even danced a few steps to the beats of the song.”
After this trip in India it will be time for Venus to get back to the practice court. The American had a good season after having broken again in the top20 (now 18th) and she will definitely try to get again in the top10. At 34 she is still young!
