Switzerland wins the Davis Cup!

What weekend guys!

Roger Federer started in worst possible way after losing in straight sets to Monfils on Friday still (physiologically)  dented by his back. Thanks God (for Switzerland) Stan the Man defeated Tsonga to get to the doubles on a 1-all score line.

Roger’s resurrection

Federer surprised once again everybody saying that he felt well and he would have been ready to play doubles.  The Maestro partnered with Wawrinka to defeat in straight and easy sets Benneteau and Gasquet -> 2-1 Switzerland.

Federer demolishes Gasquet

At that point it was clear that Roger would have given a shot to the singles once again… and what a shot! The Maestro played Gasquet (Tsonga couldn’t make it for an injury to his elbow) to annihilate the Frenchman playing one of the best tennis of is stunning career. The final score was 6-4 6-2 6-2.

Soon after defeating Richard, Federer collapsed on the court in sheer joy.

Federer: I was waiting for 15 years…

Roger was absolutely elated for the title to comment “It’s an enormous pleasure for me, I’ve waited 15 years for this. This has been a perfect weekend in a crazy atmosphere and all the Swiss fans helped us enormously.”

… this is Stan’s title

Then Roger added that the biggest part of the merit for this win goes to Wawrinka (definitely the backbone of this weekend).

The final match between Wawrinka and Gasquet was cancelled… this is the first title for the Swiss Team.

Well Done!
