Emma Raducanu is working “extremely well” with Sebastian Sachs, suggesting that she has finally figured out how to work with her coaching team. The German is Raducanu’s seventh coach in the past 18 months, but Laura Robson provided some insight into their connection and talked about Raducanu’s physio Will Herbert, suggesting that the German might be the one she has been seeking for.
Dmitry Tursunov terminated their trial period in October, leaving the 20-year-old Raducanu without a mentor, Raducanu now has a new coach directing her this season. Sebastian Sachs was then employed by her in December, but due to a string of setbacks for the British man in 2023, the results of their collaboration have yet to be fully realized.
Raducanu took some time to identify the ideal candidate for the position, but according to former world no.27 and commentator Laura Robson, the partnership has been working pretty well.
“[They have been working] very well, they really get on, they have a great connection. I think they see the vision for her game plan in the same way which always helps. And he’s pretty under-the-radar, doesn’t really sort of get ing your face or anything like that. But yeah, from the sounds of it, it’s going really well.”
