Fedrinka too good for France!

What a surprise!

Roger Federer didn’t seem he was feeling like moving 3 or 4  days ago to decide to play doubles the day after he had a tough loss to Gael Monfils.

Roger was getting better and better by the end of his match against Monfls and he definitely needed some more hours on the clay court so captain Luthi decided to give it a try.

Both Roger and Stan played at their very best (one of the finest matches they have played together) to give no chances at all to Benneteau and Gasquet. The weak link in this doubles was definitely Gasquet that had huge problems in returning with his forehand and he was constantly struggling with his service games.

On the other side Roger was in his zone and Wawrinka was in “Stanimal mode”. The result was 6-3 7-5 6-4 with no much pathos in it.

Federer: I feel fine

Roger commented “I’m fine now. I understand you want to know everything about [my back]. But I know as much as you do. I’ve been very open and honest. For me, it’s just about now, whatever it feels like, I feel like I am at 100 percent. I’ll give it 100 percent.”

Wawrinka: We know we can play top players

Stan was elated by their performance “I think the way we prepared mentally for this doubles match was different. We know that we are able, when we play well, to beat the top players”

Next-> Singles

Now Switzerland leads 2-1 and they need to win 1 of the 2 singles on Sunday.

The first single should be Federer-Tsonga. Head to head is 11-5 for Roger, 2-1 for the Swiss on clay.

Head to Head Federer - Tsonga

If Tsonga wins, the final single should be Wawrinka-Monfils. Head to head is 3-2 for Stan and they have never played each other on clay.
