Sascha Bajin is named as the WTA coach of the year after his decisive apport to Naomi Osaka’s tennis that allowed the Japanese to win Indian Wells and the US Open.

Who is Sascha Bajin?

Born in 1984, “Big Sascha” is German tennis coach that used to be in the “shadow” of Serena Williams for many years officially serving “only” as her hitting partner. Eventually, Sascha managed to convince Osaka’s family to be her coach and they had an amazing success in 2018.

Bajin comments about the award

The German released the following post on twitter

“Aahhhh! I’m speechless and turning a bit red. Such an honor. It wouldn’t have happened without my team around me who did amazing work this whole year and Naomi who had the biggest part in all this. Easy to be a good coach when you have a great student. Thanks to you all.”
