Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic have been racing for the past few months for the world’s number 1 rank. After winning the Australian Open, Djokovic regained the top spot in the rankings dethroning Alcaraz, but he can lose it again if the young Spaniard conquers the title in Indian Wells. Carlito has been battling with a leg injury that prevented him from competing in Acapulco. Fortunately, he announced that he has recovered and he is also ready to have a good run in Indian Wells.

“I’m really good right now. Today was the first practice that I practised with some players, [played] some points. I feel great. I took some days off and it was really good for me. Right now I’m ready,” said Alcaraz.

About becoming world no.1

Talking about winning both Indian Wells and Miami, Carlito added:

“It’s a really good goal for me. Of course playing a Masters 1000 is always tough and I really want to have a good result here. I love this tournament as well. For me, winning the tournament and being No. 1 again is a really good goal and I really want to go for it.”
