Holger Rune will start his Indian Wells campaign playing doubles with another exciting youngster: home favorite Ben Shelton. Holger’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, is with the Scandinavian player in California, and according to his latest message on Instagram, he is excited by this first round. Ranked world no.8 (career-high), the Dane played his last match on the 3rd of March when he capitulated to world no.18 Alex De Minaur 3-6 7-5 6-2 in the semifinal in Acapulco (draw).
At present, during this year Holger owns an overall 11-5 win-loss record. Holger Rune’s best result of this year was reaching the semifinal in Montpellier and Acapulco.
Rune will compete next in Miami (Miami Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 22nd of March.
Ben Shelton in 2023
Ranked no.41 (career-high), Ben played his last match on the 27th of February when he lost to world no.8 Holger Rune 6-7(7) 6-4 6-2 in the 1st round in Acapulco (draw).
Until now, during this year Shelton has a compiled 5-5 match record.
Shelton will play next in Miami (Miami Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 22nd of March.
