Jenson Brooksby has been struggling with his left wrist for a couple of years and he has now decided to have an operation after trying more conservative measures. Since December, things have gotten worse. The American had to slice his backhand the entire second set of his match against Cameron Norrie in Auckland. Before his Australian Open first-round match, Brooksby didn’t hit a backhand again.
Brooksby visited Dr. Shin in Los Angeles after his defeat in the third round and his return to the country. After training in Florida and two visits with a different physician, she suggested surgery as the best course of action. After that, Brooksby went back to California to have the procedure done with Dr. Shin.
Jenson commented: “I knew it was something that was pretty bad and I’d have to miss some time. I tried to take the conservative route with it but it was to no avail. There was still a lot of pain and it’s the last option, so it’s just what I have to do now.”
