Genie Bouchard wins the award for the Most Improved Player (WTA).

Genie had a super 2014 to finally break in the top10 (now no.7) after winning 1 title (Nurnberg) and reaching 2 finals (Wimbledon and Wuhan). Bouchard has started the seasons as world no.32 to achieve a career no.5 in October.

Genie has dramatically improved her tennis in this season. She has managed to add some more aggressiveness to her tennis without losing precision. Her drive remains the same and her confidence is sky high even after a terrible season finale in Singapore where she lost all matches with some embarrassing results.

Genie:  I am honoured for the award

The young Canadian commented “I’m honoured to be voted the WTA Most Improved Player Of The Year. Thank you for voting! My goal is to try to improve every single day, and I feel like I did that this year. But while I’m proud of my accomplishments, I’ve already set new goals I want to strive to reach next year. I look forward to continuing to improve!”

Good omen for the future

Actually this is a very important award and it is often a good omen as it has been awarded to lots of former (and actual) world no.1 such as Serena, Graff, Seles, Henin, Sharapova, Sanchez-Vicario, Safina, Ivanovic and Jankovic.

So Genie is not just another pretty face…
