Simona Halep and Darren Cahill have been a fantastic team.
Together went through so many ups and downs to achieve their dream to finally win a major at the last Roland Garros and end 2018 as world n.1 for the second consecutive season.
Unfortunately, the Australian had to part ways with Simona because he wanted to stay close to his family and the world no.1 was even supportive of this decision.
How Halep supported Cahill
During a recent interview, Darren commented
“The communication with Simona went on, she was practically part of my family, she knew it was an important year for me. My boy is 17 years old, he wants to become a tennis player and get to college in the US. It was hard to travel 35 weeks a year. It was an easy decision in terms of the family, but difficult to break up with Simona. She is a champion, understood and she supported me.

I may have some regrets when the tournaments will begin and I will see it on TV. However, after all, this is the decision we made.”
Simona and Darren spent a brief vacation together with her team after the break-up. The Romanian decided not to partner with any another coach for the moment.
