Federer retires from the WTF !

Roger Federer has achieved so many records in his career. He was the first player to achieve this and that… unfortunately from yesterday he is the first player to withdraw from the last act of the World Tour Finals (first time in 45 years!).

When Roger got the injury?

Unfortunately the Swiss Maestro injured his back during the tiebreak against Wawrinka (semis) and he wasn’t able to recover in less than 24 hours. You can see from the attached video that Roger was feeling something on a 6-all score-line.

The decision

Federer announces his decision just 1 hour before the match. The Maestro showed his class once again to go out and apologize in person to the crowd “ I tried everything I could last night, also today, painkillers, treatment, rest, so forth, warm-up, until the very end, but I just can’t compete at this level with Novak. It would be too risky at my age to do this right now and I hope you understand.

I wanted to come out personally and excuse myself. It’s been a great week for me. I played some great tennis and I love coming to The O2 and to London, and there’s been so many great memories for me here. Congrats of course to Novak, who’s played an amazing season, and an amazing tournament here as well. I hope we can play some more great matches, hopefully next year.”

Federer hit to the back by his father!!!

And the Davis Cup Final?

Roger should play the Davis Cup final the next weekend. He will have plenty of time to recover, but not so much to train for clay courts. There are mixed reports about his chances to play, but we are sure that time will tell. The good thing is that usually clay courts are not so hard on the back.

UPS… What about Nole?

With this win Djokovic has grabbed his 3rd consecutive World Tour Final, the 7th title of the season, the 48th of his incredible career!

We can definitely say that Nole deserved this trophy… pity he couldn’t confirm it in the very last act… still… well done!
