Carlos Alcaraz is widely considered the heir of Rafael Nadal. Unfortunately, the Spanish sensation has something in common with Rafa: he seems to be extremely prone to injuries.
During a recent interview, his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero explained what could be the reasons for Carlito’s injuries.
“The team is studying the situation, although for me, the first explanation lies in his very explosive style of play, which is often excessive in terms of the number of balls he chases in the same play.”
This is something that even happens in training. It is a very important characteristic in his DNA, one of the reasons that has led him to be what he is and that has led him to be at the ranking that he is at so young. Obviously, as he grows, it will regulate this issue a little better, although it will always be like that,” said Ferrero.
Will Carlos Alcaraz play in Indian Wells and Miami?
Carlito was unfit to compete in Acapulco after he injured his leg during the tournament in Rio de Janeiro the previous week. It is not clear if he will be fit to play in Indian Wells and Miami this month.
