Cahill coaching award

Simona Halep had another fantastic season after finally winning her first slam at the French Open. In addition, the Romanian managed to end the year as the world no.1 for the 2nd consecutive time even if the last part of her season was hampered by a problem to her back.

One of the key figures for Simona’s success was definitely her coach Darren Cahill that has always managed to help the Romanian to find the solution.

The coaching award from Tennis Australia

Darren has now received the coaching award from Tennis Australia for what he has accomplished during the year. The Australian commented on Twitter

“Really honoured to receive the coaching award from @TennisAustralia at #Newks18. Especially as it was presented by our @DavisCup captain who took a punt on a guy just off the tour with very little coaching experience over 20 years ago. Thx mate@lleytonhewitt #legend #SABoys”

Unfortunately for Simona, Darren has decided to take one year off from competitions as he wanted to spend more time with his family.
