Finally a good match for Andy Murray that recovers from that horrible opening match against Nishikori when he lost 6-4 6-4 (see article).
The Scott found some of his tennis against Milos Raonic that confirms to not be top10 player if he doesn’t blast tons of aces in a match.
Murray broke Raonic 3 times (1 in the first and 2 in the second set) to finally win 6-3 7-5. Raonic fired just 4 aces (same as Murray). Raonic committed 23 unforced errors on his forehand (!!!) . Match Stats
Murray: I obviously played better
Andy commented “I obviously played better tonight. I hit the ball a lot cleaner than I did on Sunday from the beginning of the match. So that was pleasing.”
Raonic chances become very slim as he needs to win the next match against Nishikori in straight sets losing as many games as possible and Federer needs to have a smashing win against Murray in straight sets.
With this win Murray keeps some hopes alive for getting to the semis. Andy will “almost certainly” make it if he defeats Roger in 2 sets in the next match and he will make it also if he beats the Maestro in 3 sets and Raonic defeats Nishikori.
