Emma Raducanu decided to be back to competitions in Austin after the Australian summer. However, that will not happen since the British player is suffering from tonsillitis. This was her statement:
“I’m sorry to have to withdraw from the ATX Open. I am currently suffering from tonsillitis and am unable to compete this week. Thank you to the tournament for the great hospitality here in Austin.”
Magda Linette will led the draw as the seed no.1
Emma Raducanu in 2023
Ranked no.81, Raducanu played her last match on the 18th of January when she capitulated to world no.6 Cori Gauff 6-3 7-6(4) in the 2nd round of the Australian Open (draw).
Currently, during this season Emma has a 2-2 win-loss record.
She is also scheduled to play in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open) after Austin. The main draw will start on the 27th of February.
Magda Linette in 2023
Now the world no.21 (career-high), the Pole played her last match on the 24th of February when she was overcome by world no.140 Rebecca Peterson 6-2 6-4 in the quarter in Merida (draw).
Currently, during this year the Pole achieved a 10-4 record. Magda Linette’s most significant result of the present year was getting to the semifinal in Australia and at the Australian Open.
She is also scheduled to play in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open) after Austin. The main draw will start on the 27th of February.
Emma Raducanu and Magda Linette clashed against each other just on 1 occasion. Their record is 1-0 for Raducanu. When they played, Emma Raducanu won 6-2 6-2 in the quarter in Seoul (Hana Bank Korea Open) in September 2022.
