“He has a lot of things to improve,” said Carlos Alcaraz’s coach and former world no.1

Carlos Alcaraz is ranked 2 and has the opportunity to tie Novak Djokovic in ATP points if he defends his title in Rio de Janeiro.

Carlos Alcaraz With His Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero

Carlos Alcaraz is back on tour after a long hiatus caused by a string of injuries. The Spanish sensation is currently ranked the number 2, but he has the opportunity to tie Novak Djokovic in terms of ATP points if he defends his title in Rio de Janeiro. Nevertheless, his coach and former world number 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero is very well aware that his protege needs to improve many parts of his game.

During a recent interview with Clay, Juan Carlos commented:

“He has a lot of things to improve. The consistency in the serve, in the return to have better directions, to be better at the beginning of the matches, more regular, because many times it costs him a little bit to start. And on a technical level he also has a lot of things to improve, like his backhand slice, blocking the return…. Things that at 19 years old, no matter how much you are No 1, you have to polish.”
