The world number one started her campaign in Qatar from the second round, after receiving a bye. Later, Iga demolished world no.42 Danielle Collins 6-0 6-1. Things got even easier for Swiatek after Belinda Benich declined to play in the quarterfinals, citing fatigue.

Cori Gauff will face the world no.11 Veronika Kudermetova in the quarter on Thursday at 3:30 pm on Center Court. They have never played each other up to now in top tournaments.
