Carlos Alcaraz is about to start his 2023 season in Buenos Aires, where he will face Laslo Djere in what will be the first match of his season. During a recent interview with the ATP, Carlito released some comments about Novak Djokovic, who snatched the world No. 1 from the Spanish teenager after winning the Australian Open.
“He has no weaknesses. Every shot, it’s amazing,” said Alcaraz during an interview with the ATP. “His physical condition is amazing; his mental condition is amazing. He’s like a God, and I admire him over the years staying at the same level, staying at the top. It’s really, really difficult, and I admire that.”
Alcaraz rose to the top of the ATP rankings in September of last year after winning the US Open. He remained there for 20 weeks before Djokovic deposed him at the end of January. Alcaraz will be back in action this week at the Argentina Open after missing the Australian Open. He has his sights set on regaining the top spot, but even if he wins the ATP 250 tournament, he won’t be able to do so this week.

LWWWWWWWWW At the moment ranked no.2, Carlos played his last match on the 4th of November 2022 when he had to retire when playing against world no.9 Holger Rune in the quarter and the scoreline was 6-3 6-6 .
This season the Spaniard has an overall 57-13 record.
He is also scheduled to play in Acapulco (Abierto Mexicano Telcel) after Rio De Janeiro. The main draw will start on the 20th of February.
Novak Djokovic in 2023
LWWWWWWLWW Currently the world no.1, Novak played his last match on the 29th of January when he beat world no.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6(4) 7-6(5) in the final of the Australian Open to win his 93rd career title.
This year Novak owns a composed 12-0 win-loss record. Novak clinched 2 titles in 2023 in Adelaide and Australian Open.
Djokovic will compete next in Dubai (Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships). He will begin to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 27th of February.
Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic fought against each other only once. Their current record is 1-0 for Alcaraz. When they played, Carlos Alcaraz won 6-7(5) 7-5 7-6(5) in the semifinal in Madrid (Mutua Madrid Open) in May 2022.

LWWWLWWWLW At the moment ranked no.57, Laslo owns an overall 6-3 win-loss record in 2023. The Serbian is currently playing in Buenos Aires where he defeated the world no.66 Fabio Fognini 6-4 6-4.
Laslo Djere will face the world no.2 Carlos Alcaraz in the 2nd round on Wednesday at 8:00 pm on COURT GUILLERMO VILAS. They have never played each other up to now in top tournaments.
