We have seen many players abusing rackets; probably the funniest “racket rage” was Baghdatis’ that a couple of years demolished 4 rackets at the Australian Open during the changeover. Gulbis is probably the most prolific “racket smasher”on the men’s side, on the women’s…. well Serena did something amazing yesterday.
The American was playing the semifinal against her friend Caroline Wozniacki and after ditching a backhand on the net she literally annihilated her stick.
Serena: I lost my cool a little bit
The American commented “I don’t know how many times I hit it, but boy, that racquet will never do me wrong again. I kind of lost my cool a little bit. Another one bit—it bit the dust, so to say. … I’m not proud of it.”
Well at least it was rather intimidating.
