After a great year, Genie had a horrible …Year End.
The Canadian managed to achieve the 5th rank in the WTA circuit in 2015, but the end of the season has been rather tough for the young Canadian.
Genie has lost all 3 matches in the WTA finals without winning a single set. The worst part of it is that Genie was trashed in all matches: 6-1 6-1 with Serena, 6-1 6-3 with Ivanovic and 6-2 6-3 with Halep.
Genie collected just 11 games to record the worst ever performance in a WTA final. Before the “holder of this record” was Jelena Jankovic (only 13 games in 2010) and before that it was Dementieva (only 15 games in 2005).
This wasn’t the way Genie wanted to end her breakthrough season. The Canadian won her maiden title in Nurnberg, she reached the final in Wimbledon and the semifinals in Australia and Paris.
She will definitely go for more in 2015.
