What a surprise in Singapore!
Simona Halep demolishes Serena Williams 6-0 6-2 in just 65 minutes. Nobody could have forecasted this result. Simona Halep has never managed to defeat Serena Williams in 3 matches and she was bagelled (6-0) twice by the American in the last 2 matches (see stats). In addition Serena was coming from a 16th matches winning streak in the WTA finals.
Halep was absolutely ruthless in the entire match taking full advantage of a Serena’s unforced errors.
Halep: It’s the biggest match of my life
Soon after the match Simona commented “It’s the biggest match in my life, so I can’t put into words how I feel right now. I feel very happy! I just want to enjoy it. It was always my dream to beat one of the Williams sisters, but of course without the help of the crowd I wouldn’t have been able to play this way today. Also my team, my Romanians, I feel so amazing right now! I will work hard for the rest of the tournament and then we will party for sure!
