This is what Nick Kyrgios said after pleading guilty for assaulting former girlfriend

Nick Kyrgios Statement

Nick Kyrgios will not be convicted despite confessing to assaulting his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari on a night out in Canberra. The Australian tennis player appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday. He entered a guilty plea and had his case dismissed after his request to have the case handled on the basis of mental health was denied. The world No. 20-ranked man, who was 27 years old at the time, shoved Ms Passari to the ground during a verbal exchange more than two years ago, and was subsequently charged with common assault.

Mental Health

Soon after Nick published the following post talking about Mental Health.

“I respect today’s ruling and I’m grateful to the court for dismissing the charges without conviction. I was not in a good place when this happened and I reacted to a difficult situation in a way I deeply regret. I know it wasn’t OK, and I’m sincerely sorry for the hurt I caused.

Mental health is tough. Life can seem overwhelming. But I’ve found that getting help and working on myself has allowed me to feel better and to be better. I can never thank Costeen, my family and friends enough for supporting me through this process. I now plan to focus on recovering from injury and moving forward in the best way possible.”
