The Australian Open is all about Tommy Paul and his girlfriend, and on Wednesday, some embarrassing situations between the two were captured on camera. Paul extended his remarkable streak at Melbourne Park by defeating fellow American Ben Shelton 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 5-7 6-4 to earn a matchup with Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Prior to the 2018 Australian Open, the World No. 35 had never advanced past the fourth round in a major tournament. But his victory over Shelton guaranteed him a spot in an improbable semifinal matchup with nine-time champion Novak Djokovic.

Paul was ecstatic when he spoke to Australian great and Channel 9 pundit John Fitzgerald during an on-court interview. The day of the match was the first day his mother had been in Australia, so the American paid respect to her and to his fiancée.
