Novak Djokovic stated he was happy to have his parents in Australia on the occasion of the first slam of the year. Unfortunately, his father, Srdjan, stole the show once again for the wrong reason after posing with pro-Russia fans at the Australian Open after his son reached the semi-finals.
Novak Djokovic was extremely kind to Sergiy Stakhovsky, a professional tennis player from Ukraine, when he learned that he was fighting for his country against the Russian invasion. However, from a recent video posted on YouTube, it seems that Novak’s father is supporting Russia. Alex Dolgopolov, also a former professional tennis player from Ukraine, was livid about that and published the following post.
Absolutely disgusting 🤮
Politics should be kept out of sports they said. These people have absolutely no business in being on tennis tournaments, including @DjokerNole father, if they openly praise a genocidal regime👎🏻Z🇷🇺❌@atptour @AustralianOpen https://t.co/qq44uO7qFO— Alex Dolgopolov (@TheDolgo) January 26, 2023
