LIVE RANKINGS. Elena Rybakina’s strange case if she wins the Australian Open

Elena Rybakina won Wimbledon last year, but the WTA and ATP decided not to award her any points for playing at SW19. The Russian is now no.16 in the live rankings, but if she wins the Australian Open she would be No. 2.

Elena Rybakina Live Rankings

Elena Rybakina hit the headlines loud and strong last summer after winning Wimbledon. However, after players from Russia and Belarus were banned from playing in SW19, the WTA and the ATP decided not to award any points for playing in Wimbledon.

Following this policy, Elena is not even ranked in the top 20. However, she is now no.16 in the live rankings. Curiously, if she also wins the Australian Open (she is in the quarterfinals right now), she will be ranked only 8 or 9 with 2 majors under her belt. If the Wimbledon points were assigned, she would be No. 2.
