Federer is the new world no.2!

Roger Federer is the greatest winner of the week!

The Maestro has won his first ATP1000 Master in Shanghai, he overtook Rafael Nadal as the new world no.2 and he is threatening Novak Djokovic for the very top spot.

Let’s have a look at the rankings

FEDERER

As we said Roger is the new world no.2. The Swiss Maestro is 2430pts below Djokovic, but in the Year to Date rankings Roger is just 990pts behind Nole. If you consider that Djokovic may miss either Bercy or the World Tour Finals (or both) for the birth of his first child, the Maestro has definitely a shot at the world no.1 spot by the end of the season.

LOPEZ

Feliciano is having a great season. The Spaniard has won a title in Eastbourne and he has now reached the semifinal in Shanghai. The result in China helped the Spaniard to climb 7 places and be ranked world no.14 (career high!!!). No bad for a 33 years old.

SIMON

Gilles is also having a good year. Reaching the final in Shanghai made him gain 11 places to be ranked no.18.  More to come.

LACKO

Lukas Lacko is the “biggest gainer” of the week after climbing 16 places. The Slovakian won the challenger 125 in Tashkent.
