MELBOURNE – Stefanos Tsitsipas seems to be inspired on and off the court at the current Australian Open. The Greek player looks in top form. He has just reached the fourth round without dropping a single set. During the on-court interview that followed his third-round match, Stefanos had some fun with tennis legend Jim Courier.
When the American asked Stefanos about the performance, Tsitsipas said: “Fair crack of the whip mate, I mean, it was great,” with an Australian accent making everyone laugh.
Then he added: “I think my placement on the serve was exceptional today. I didn’t have a lot of rallies on my serve, which helped a lot.
Kind of kept things clean and I enjoyed the weather today. What a lovely day for tennis it is today, isn’t it?”
It’s the second time Stefanos used a local expression. After his first-round match, he said, “Yeah crikey, that was a ripsnorter mate!”
