‘I’m an easy target to be a villain,’ says Novak Djokovic upset with Eurosport

Novak Djokovic explains why he is not happy with Eurosport

Novak Djokovic has questioned why a broadcaster who claimed he “defied” a chair umpire by using the restroom has not publicly apologized to him. Five games into his Australian Open victory in the first round, the Serbian superstar took a restroom break.

On Wednesday,  Eurosport tweeted: “Novak Djokovic defied the umpire to take an early bathroom break in his first match at the Australian Open.” On Thursday, Djokovic took to social media and urged Eurosport to “please get your information checked.”

“Again, I have been placed in a situation where I have to react publicly,” Novak said. “For the second time in six months, I have a problem with Eurosport. Eurosport have engaged a new company in London that is running its social media. I saw that it was someone new and they confirmed it….

“I can’t remember the details of exactly what happened six months ago, but at the time I said I will not be giving any interviews to Eurosport. Subsequently, they apologized to me, and everything was OK; but here we are again where Eurosport is sensationalizing something which is completely taken out of context.

‘I am an easy target’

Novak was also upset because he feels he is an easy target from the media and the ATP and slams often do not defend him.

“They deleted this, they removed the video, Barbara apologized, Boris wrote to me. I love “Eurosport”, I watch skiing all my life, but those people. There must be ATP and VTA protection in time and someone should do something.

I’m an easy target to be a villain. Some things I can put up with and some things I can’t. Why won’t anyone explain why I’m being lynched? But it comes down to the same thing, if we’re part of this tour, there has to be support and accountability and protection, and not to “roast” me in the media, and they remain silent,” added Novak.
