Nick Kyrgios, Matteo Berrettini, Paula Badosa Gibert and Ajla Tomljanovic are among the tennis players who were part of the Netflix docuseries “Break Point.”
Tennis fans can’t help but believe that the brand-new “Break Point” series on Netflix has cursed its series one stars, as EIGHT of them have already exited the Australian Open before round three Throughout the 2022 season, the 10-part docuseries focuses on the lives of some of tennis’ most famous players.

But in 2023, those same players fell flat on their faces after being eliminated from the Australian Open in the first five episodes (8 of the 10 stars).
In losing to local favorite Alexei Popyrin on Wednesday, Taylor Fritz, Team USA’s best chance to have a men’s singles player win the Australian Open, joined the list of casualties, but he wasn’t the first. From there, the group of Netflix celebrities quickly discovered that their year’s opening Slam had been cut short.

Andy Murray of Scotland defeated No. 13 seed Matteo Berrettini in a titanic match by scores of 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7, and 7-6 (10-6) to become the tournament’s first victim. From there, American phenom Jenson Brooksby eliminated No. 2 seed Casper Ruud in four sets.

When it was mentioned to players that the “curse” was gaining ground among fans, they bristled.
