Rafael Nadal had yet another setback at the Australian Open because of a nasty hip injury. Rafa lost in the second round of the first slam of the year at the hands of world no.65 Mackenzie Mcdonald 6-4 6-4 7-5.
Rafa gave an update to his fans on Twitter, explaining the entity of his injury and when he can be back in competition.
“Good afternoon. I have carried out medical tests after the defeat yesterday. The MRI shows a grade 2 lesion in the Iliacus Psoas of his left leg. Now it’s sports rest and anti-inflammatory physiotherapy. Normal recovery time 6 to 8 weeks.”
In theory, Nadal may rush and play in Indian Wells (6th of March and very unlikely) or Miami (20th of March). However, at this point, it is possible that he will just focus on the clay-court season. Nadal was supposed to compete in Dubai, but that will definitely be a no-go.

Now the world no.2, Nadal played his last match on the 18th of January when he capitulated to world no.65 Mackenzie Mcdonald 6-4 6-4 7-5 in the 2nd round of the Australian Open (draw).
At the moment, during this season Rafael has managed to achieve a composed 1-3 win-loss record.
