Federer wins the perfect match against Djokovic

Roger Federer is definitely back. The Maestro played a tennis out of this world to concede just 8 games to world no.1 Novak Djokovic.

It was clear from the very beginning that something has changed between these 2. Roger looked full of confidence from the very beginning to break Nole already in the 5th game (3-2). The Swiss was in full control even from the baseline taking advantage of some uncharacteristic unforced errors committed by Djokovic on his forehand.

Roger managed to win the opener 6-4 holding all his service games. The Serbian found himself in deep waters at the very beginning of the second set when he immediately lost his service game. Even if that looked to be a bit early Roger managed to keep the lead and finally wrap up the match 6-4 6-4. Match Stats.

Some thoughts

Roger played the match he needed to beat Djokovic. The Maestro was often attacking Nole (sometimes even too match) and he put a lot of pressure on Djokovic’s forehand that was struggling a lot especially on cross-court rallies. Once again Roger struggled a lot in the break point conversion (2/10), but overall everything went on his way. The interesting and surprising part was that Roger was “owning” Djkovic from a psychological point of view and this was not happening for long long time.

Federer: It was a high-level match

Roger was elated by his performance “It was a great match, I agree. I think I played very well. There was nothing in the game today that wasn’t working. I think it was a high-level match. I’m unbelievably happy with the way it went.”

The final vs. Simon

Roger will play the final against world no.29 Gilles Simon. Head to head is 4-2 for Roger that has won the last 4 matches against the Frenchman.
