Bouchard retires from Linz, in doubt for Singapore

Bad news from Genie Bouchard.

The Canadian was not fit to play her 2nd round match in Linz because of a leg injury. Genie had no problems in the first round as she conceded just 5 games to world no.100 Patricia Mayr-Achleitner (6-4 6-1). The big issue started the day after when Genie had to cope with a sharp pain to her leg.

From Genie

The Canadian commented “I woke up this morning and it was much, much worse. It’s hard for me to keep playing and keep making it worse.”

The goal is to play in Singapore

Then Bouchard added “The plan is to take a lot of days off right now and really rest. The goal is to try play Singapore in a week and a half. I won’t have ideal training probably but I’ll give it my best.”

The WTA final will take place in Singapore in 7 days time. Let’s see if Genie can make it.
