Rafael Nadal lost in the second round of the Australian Open to an inspired Mackenzie Mcdonald 6-4 6-4 7-5. The American player was performing at his very best, but it is impossible not to mention that Rafael Nadal’s tennis was heavily hampered by a hip injury.
During the press conference that followed the match, Nadal commented:
“It has been a couple of days like this, but nothing like today in that movement. I don’t know. We’re gonna start talking about that now, but I don’t know what’s going on, if its muscle, if it’s joint.
I have a history in the hip that I had issues with. I had to do treatments in the past, and address a little. Was not this amount of problem. Now I feel I cannot move.
But I don’t know till I do the test and all this stuff, I don’t know. It is difficult to make a resolution if it’s a muscle if it’s the joint, if it’s the cartilage. I don’t know. Yeah, that’s it.”
