Genie Bouchard qualifies for Singapore!

What a great result for Genie Bouchard!

The Canadian qualifies for the season’s finale after a fantastic year. The backbone of this achievement is Genie’s performance in te slams (the semis in Melbourne and Paris, the final in Wimbledon and the 4th round at the US Open). In 2014 Bouchard has also won her maiden tournament in May (Nurnberg) and she was the runner-up both in Wimbledon and Wuhan (in both occasions she was defeated by Kvitova).

Genie got this achievement even if she had a horrible tournament in Beijing (she lost to Lisicki in her opener). In fact that came after Angelique Kerber (no.9 in the Year to Date rankings) lost to Kuznetsova in Beijing’s 3rd round.

Genie is the first Canadian to qualify for the WTA finals since 1989 (Helen Kelesi)

Well done!
