This was a rather good day for Ana Ivanovic that reached the quarters after beating Sabine Lisicki in straight sets (6-3 7-5). After that Ana had the news that she won’t play Simona Halep in the quarters as the Romanian withdrew soon after beating Petkovic in the 3rd round.
Ana: It was a great match today
Ivanovic commented “It was a great match today – it’s always tough playing Sabine, she’s a big hitter and a big server. Today I really tried to take the ball early and stay aggressive and I think I did that really well. If you give her the opportunity, she’s going to run with it. It was very close, particularly at the end of the first set.”
Ana will play either Maria Sharapova or Svetlana Kuznetsova for a place in the final. Things are looking rather good for Ana that should qualify for the season finale.
