Imperfect Djokovic survives Pospisil in Beijing

Tough match for Novak Djokovic.

Nole wasn’t in his “Serbinator Mode” to beat Pospisil after a big struggle in the second set. The Serbian won the opener breaking Vasek a couple of times in the 3rd (2-1) and 9th (6-3) game. The second set was a different story with Djokovic broken in the 8th game (3-5). At that point the world no.1 had to gather all his energies to be back in the set and win 4 consecutive games.  The final result was 6-3 7-5. Match Stats.

Djokovic: I want to end 2014 as the world no.1

Nole has really just 1 goal right now: ending 2014 as the world no.1 The Serbian commented “You work all your life and you dream about becoming the No. 1 in the world, the best in what you do. It’s definitely always the highest priority out there along with winning Grand Slam titles.

“That gives me plenty of motivation. It would mean a lot to me,” added Djokovic. “That’s why I’m out here in Beijing and Shanghai, competing and trying to get that year-end No. 1.”

Next vs. Dimitrov or Andujar

Nole will play either Grigor Dimitrov or Pablo Andujar in the quarters. The Bulgarian is widely expected to clash with Djokovic for a place in the semifinal.
