A new Netflix docuseries that gives viewers a close-up look at what goes on behind the scenes on the tennis tour centers on the romance between players Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanovic. The makers of the “Drive to Survive” F1 series hope “Break Point” will be a similar smash hit in bringing in new viewers to court action.

Break Point’s first five episodes, which will be available on Netflix starting January 13th, are designed to give tennis fans and beyond a glimpse into the extraordinary life of professional tennis players as they prepare for Grand Slams and other major tournaments.

The personal lives of some of the most prominent athletes are also highlighted, including the romance between Australian star Tomljanovic and Italian player Berrettini. In the documentary, which examines their divergent outcomes at the 2022 Australian Open at Melbourne Park, the pair could still be seen together. In the second episode, Berrettini discusses how she met world no. 39 Tomljanovic in October 2019 after dating fellow tennis player Nick Kyrgios previously.

The Breakup

Over the course of their more than two years of dating, the couple was frequently photographed practicing together, encouraging one another, and hanging out at competitions. However, since Berrettini confirmed the split more than six months ago, the couple has never discussed the reasons for their breakup in public.

“Yeah, I’m single but it’s not like something that I am looking for, like, it’s not that I’m waking up and have to find love,” said Matteo. “It’s just something that is happening. It’s good for me. If it doesn’t, it’s another day, you know.”
