Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper are truly exciting prospects for British tennis. Emma already won a slam in 2021 (the US Open), and she is trying to find the right balance and fitness to compete at the very top. Raducanu is putting most of her attention on strengthening her by following what Jack Draper has been doing in the last few years.
During an interesting interview, British tennis legend Tim Henman revealed: “I think there are comparisons with Jack, and with Jack, what he’s done physically is he’s worked incredibly hard to build up that physicality, that robustness and he’s reaping the rewards. And that’s what Emma is trying to do, so it’s frustrating when you get those kinds of setbacks.”
After twisting her ankle during her second-round match in Auckland last week, Raducanu is in a race against time to recover in time for the Australian Open. After several setbacks due to injury last year, the world No. 75 spent the off-season working on her fitness. She appeared physically stronger in her opening match but rolled her ankle when her round two match against Viktoria Kuzmova was moved indoors due to rain.
Henman has since revealed that he has been speaking with Raducanu about the setback. The 20-year-old has since traveled to Melbourne to continue working out and try to recover in time for the tournament to begin on Monday.
