Murray saves 5 match points to win Shenzhen!

This was an incredible final!

Andy Murray had to save 5 match points before ending a 15th months titles drought in Shenzhen (the last title was Wimbledon 2013).

Andy’s looked 100% doomed when he had to face 4 consecutive match points in the second set tiebreak when he was 2-6 down. Then Robredo wasn’t able to convert any of these to squander also another opportunity. After losing the tiebreak the Spaniard imploded to give the title to Murray. The final score was 5-7 7-6 (9) 6-1 with Robredo that was absolutely destroyed by the fatigue, and probably by the huge disappointment of now having been able to win this match.

This was Murray’s 19th career title and the first of 2014. With this win Andy will be no.10 in the year to date rankings. This means that he has a good shot at qualify for the season finale in London, but he needs to be solid in the next few tournaments.

Next stop for Andy is Beijing where he is going to face Jerzy Janowicz.
