Iga Swiatek is used to crushing her opponents during her matches. Probably the Polish champion is not used to receiving the same treatment and she was struggling when facing an inspired Jessica Pegula, who demolished her 6-2 6-2 during the United Cup in Sydney. Iga was so emotional that she was even fighting tears during a changeover with her captain Agnieska Radwanska trying to calm her.

Ranked world no.1, the Pole played her last match on the 6th of January when she was overcome by world no.3 Jessica Pegula 6-2 6-2 in the semifinal in Australia (draw).
At the moment, during this season Iga achieved a compiled 3-1 match record. Iga Swiatek’s latest run in Australia was the best achievement of her season.
She is also scheduled to play at the Australian Open (Australian Open). The main draw will start on the 16th of January.
