Holger Rune decided not to play the ASB Classic in Auckland anymore in order to fine-tune his preparation for the Australian Open. There are no reports of Rune struggling with any injuries. Holger has huge hopes for his 2023, even aiming at becoming the new world number 1 after a solid end to the 2022 season when he won the ATP 1000 in Paris.

Ranked world no.11, Holger played his last match on the 2nd

of January when he was defeated by world no.36 Yoshihito Nishioka 2-6 6-4 6-4 in the 1st round in Adelaide (draw).

During this season Holger has managed to achieve an overall 0-1 win-loss record.

He is also scheduled to play at the Australian Open (Australian Open) after Auckland. The main draw will start on the 9th of January.
