Coco Gauff starts the new year in a rather weird fashion. The young American tennis prodigy jumps from Auckland, New Zealand’s Sky Tower. Gauff is known for her fearless and bold approach on the court, and it appears that she brought that same fearless attitude to the Sky Tower. Gauff is scheduled to play her first tournament of 2023 at the ASB Classic in Auckland.
The Sky Tower, the tallest free-standing building in Auckland at 1,076 feet (328 meters), provides breathtaking views of the city below. The SkyJump, which involves a controlled descent from the tower, and the SkyWalk, which entails a guided tour of the pergola at the top of the tower, are two options available to those with the courage of the American. Gauff chose the more thrilling SkyJump, which sends riders hurtling toward the ground at up to 50 mph.
