Novak Djokovic had a rather tough year in 2022 since he was not able to play many top tournaments given his vaccination status. Fortunately, the Serbian sensation will be allowed to compete at the upcoming Australian Open. However, he may not be able to play again in Indian Wells and Miami.
Due to the rise in cases in China, the US government has put additional restrictions in place. The abrupt end of China’s “zero-Covid” policy resulted in a sudden rise in cases in recent days, and the US has indeed joined countries like Italy, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, and Japan in announcing new measures. If the situation in China becomes worse, it is likely that the United States will restore the rules that foreigners need to be vaccinated in order to enter its territories. The situation is extremely fluid and needs to be monitored.
For the time being, let’s hope for the best and enjoy Novak playing in Australia.
