Ana Ivanovic is chasing her 4th title of the seasons in Tokyo. Ana defeated Azarenka 6-3 6-4 in a difficult opener and now she conceded just 5 games to Lucie Safarova.
Beating the Czech was a great achievement for Ana that has lost to her the last 5 times.
After the match Ana commented “From the first moment, I tried not to think too much about the score and just the next point, the next game, and that’s what I did really well. I was really pleased with that and felt that I played a really good match today,”
Ivanovic will play Angelique Kerber in the semifinal. Head to head is 4-2 for Ana.
