Nick Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios has recently said that he was excited to play in the United Cup. Nevertheless, a few days before, he also admitted that he preferred playing lucrative exhibitions than defending the colors of Australia during the latest David Cup. He also hinted that he would change ideas in the future if he felt more support from Australia. The relationship between Kyrgios and the Australian tennis establishment went from bad to worse when Nick publicly criticized the fact that Ash Barty won the Newcombe Medal. He felt he was deserving of it.

Just a few hours before the kickstart of the United Cup, Kyrgios withdrew, citing an unspecified injury. Later he posted a video of him strolling in Sydney with the caption: “Beautiful Day” (and an emoji of a laughing face).
